Dr. Christina J. Taylor graduated from Sacred Heart University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Religious Studies. After earning a Master of Arts in General Theoretical Psychology from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, a degree that provided preparation for college teaching, Dr. Taylor joined the Sacred Heart University faculty as an Instructor of Psychology. She pursued doctoral studies in Social Psychology at the Graduate Center of The City University of New York where she was privileged to work with Professor Stanley Milgram as her advisor. Dr. Milgram, renowned for his very important research on obedience to authority, left a legacy of mentoring doctoral students at the Graduate Center. Dr. Taylor was the last student to complete a doctorate under his guidance. She was awarded an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Social/Personality Psychology from the CUNY Graduate Center. Dr. Taylor then went on to do Postdoctoral study in Clinical Psychology at Hofstra University and served as a Research Psychologist on the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Multicenter Treatment Outcome Study on Panic Disorder at Yale University.

Dr. Taylor is a specialist in Cognitive Behavior Therapy for anxiety disorders and has special expertise in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. She serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Connecticut Affiliate of the International Obsessive Compulsive Foundation (OCDCT) and provides clinical training workshops for mental health professionals on cognitive behavioral therapy for OCD. Dr. Taylor combines her interests in Social and Clinical psychology in the courses that she teaches, having a special interest in women’s studies and the psychology of prejudice and stigma. She is very happy to talk to students who are interested in becoming involved in research or who have questions about graduate study and future professional careers.

Dr. Taylor has been an essential faculty member with Sacred Heart University for 40 years and was recognized for her accomplishments and dedication at SHU's 50th Founder's Day celebration.
