The Sacred Heart University Ladies Only Vocal Ensemble was organized in the fall of 2008 and is one of the newest choral organizations in the University’s expanding Choral Program. SHU L.O.V.E. quickly garnered praise as a result from their first performances on campus for Family Weekend and at both the annual Service of Lessons & Carols and the traditional Christmas Extravaganza. The ladies went on to host their own Pops concert in the spring of 2009, making it an annual event., which singers and audience members alike now eagerly await. Additionally, the choir is now an annual participant in “PipeScreams,” a Halloween concert, sponsored by the Bridgeport Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, “GospelFest,” sponsored by UMOJA and “Elements,” the annual showcase of talent from the combined Performing Arts Department. During their second season, the singers of SHU L.O.V.E. were invited to join Broadway and Phantom of the Opera star Frank Mastrone in concert on the Edgerton stage as well as in the More Music Concert Series (Darien) and at Curtain Call (Stamford). SHU L.O.V.E. made their New York City debut in September 2011 as they were invited to perform at the tenth anniversary events of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center by Voices of September 11th. There they performed for U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. A year later they repeated their performance at St. Peter Catholic Church in lower Manhattan for a U. S. Homeland Security event with Secretary Janet Napolitano.
SHU L.O.V.E. sings a wide variety of musical repertoire encompassing traditional classical works, a cappella, popular and Gospel styles in both SSA and SSAA voicings.
