The Sacred Heart University band is a family. Everyone in the instrumental music program is passionate about performing and using music as a vehicle to express themselves creatively. We aim to improve our own lives and the lives of others through our art. Our program is made up completely of non - music majors and because of that everyone feels a unique and tangible dedication to music. Our members continue to play in college because they want to keep music a part of their life.

The Sacred Heart Band is one band that fulfills several roles at SHU. We perform a field show each fall semester for home football games, perform at high school shows in exhibition, and march in parades like the Columbus Day parade in NYC. We play at home games for the basketball and hockey teams and we also travel with the teams for division and NCAA playoffs. We perform several concerts throughout the year featuring both traditional and newly commissioned works for band and we also regularly have guest artists and clinicians come to work with our members. We love music and we hope to share that passion with you!

The Band is also proud to keep traditions of the University alive. Learn more about some of these traditions.
