Director of Dance
Kari Williams is originally from Brooklyn NY. She is an accomplished dance educator and choreographer who has maintained an active career in dance education for 22 + years. Williams brings a unique energy to her classes and programs by infusing her various background experiences with current standards and methodologies. Her work is rooted in classical dance and combined with the creative energy and impulses of current contemporary styles. For many years, she was a dance teaching assistant to Jazz dance legend Mr. Frank Hatchett, at Broadway Dance Center and across the national dance convention circuit. Williams served as the Director of Dance for Moore Catholic High School’s Performing Arts Institute from 2005-2012. She founded her own private dance school, Liv2Dance Studio and company, SHADOW/light Pre-Professional Youth Contemporary dance ensemble in 2007, and has maintained an active teaching and directing career ever since. In 2011, Ms. Williams was featured in Dance Studio Life Magazine for the creation of a “Revolutionary Recital”. From 2012-2015 she worked as a Professor of Musical Theatre and Jazz dance at Wagner College in Staten Island, NY. She holds an MA in Dance Education: Teaching Dance in the Professions from NYU/Steinhardt where she studied higher education programming, curriculum development and pedagogy. She currently serves as the Director of Dance at Sacred Heart University while continuing to work actively on the national dance convention and competition circuit as both a master instructor and adjudicator. Kari Williams is an inspiration to dancers and teachers alike, devoting her career to fully engaging her students in the creative process and directing them towards their unique goals.
