Accelerated Bachelor's-Master's Degree in Communication or Sports Communication & Media

Incoming freshmen with a strong high school academic performance and an expressed interest in Communication are eligible to join our accelerated five-year program, which leads to the completion of both a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in five years. Students accepted into the accelerated program will begin their graduate studies during the second semester of their senior year, and can elect to pursue either a Master of Arts in Communication (MACOMM) or a Master of Arts in Sports Communication and Media (SCM).

By virtue of beginning their graduate work while still enrolled as undergraduates, students in the accelerated program receive a substantial discount on the overall cost of their graduate degree.

  • Master of Arts in Communication (MACOMM): Powerful stories need powerful storytellers. With concentrations in corporate communication and public relations (CCPR), digital multimedia journalism (DMJ) and digital multimedia production (DMP) the MACOMM program at Sacred Heart University positions its students to stand out as innovative storytellers and content creators in today’s media industry. Students in the accelerated five-year MACOMM program will take the graduate course CM697: 5th-Year MACOMM Internship during the spring semester of their senior year.
  • Master of Arts in Sports Communication and Media: With academic/professional tracks in Sports Broadcasting and Athletic Communications and Promotions, the Master of Arts in Sports Communication and Media is specifically designed from a humanities tradition to showcase multimedia production and capitalize on Sacred Heart University’s ideal geographic location in the heart of the US sports media industry. Students in the accelerated five-year SCM program will take the graduate course CM555 Sports Media Production during the spring semester of their senior year.
