Individuals who hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university will be considered for admission to the ESAM program. Students should have a degree in a natural science such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Environmental Science, but it is not required.
Minimum prerequisite courses for admission to the ESAM program include: one year each of major’s level General Biology and General Chemistry, one semester of organic chemistry, one semester of pre-calculus, and one semester of elementary statistics

- $60 non-refundable application fee
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a 3.0 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
- Official transcripts from all undergraduate institutions attended
- Sacred Heart University students and alumni may authorize the Office of Graduate Admissions to obtain their official SHU transcripts on their behalf
- Written personal statement - One page describing career goals, and interest and qualifications for the program
- 2 Letters of recommendation
- Professional resume
- Submit an official score from the GRE general test as this may be required for admission to the program depending on the applicants qualifications
