‌Ellen Gang

‎The recipient of numerous design awards over a 25 year career in the fashion industry, Ellen Gang is excited to share her knowledge with her students at Sacred Heart University, as the coordinator and instructor of the Fashion Design minor.

She also teaches at F.I.T. (Adjunct Assistant Professor, Career Services and Internship Center), and at her own elle’n gang design studio.
 
The elle’n gang design studio focuses on teaching young teens to young adults with an emphasis on creativity, building confidence, critical thinking skills, and experiencing the joy of design. She has also taught the Childrens Wear Specialization, Draping, and Patternmaking at F.I.T., and Tailoring and Costume Design at Brooklyn College.
Her fashion design experience includes Knitwaves, Inc. (1976-1999) where she was Director of Design & Merchandising, responsible for overseeing the studio with sewers, cutters, artists, garment duplication, and final fit approval. She designed fashion forward infants, toddlers, 4-6x, 7-16, young junior lines, and licensed properties for upper tier, mid tier and mass market retailers.
Other full time positions and free lance projects included Tickle Me, Trimfit, and more.
Credits, honors, and awards include The Earnie Award (3 time recipient for Excellence in Children’s Wear Design), Industry Critic for FIT Children’s Wear specialization, Tommy Award nominee, member of FIT Industry Advisory Board, FIT Children’s Wear Advisory Board, selected for design exhibition at The Waldorf Astoria & FIT Gallery for a Celebration of New York and The New York Times.

Her designs have been featured in the Fashions of the Times section of The New York Times, Women’s Wear Daily, Fashion Art in the Fashion Industry, Bridal Guide, Westport Magazine, FOX Cable News trend segment, and they have been worn on The Bill Cosby Show.
 
Ellen has been a guest speaker at The National Knitted Sportswear Association, The Knitted Textile Association, FIT, Brooklyn College, Gibbs College, Sacred Heart University, and has authored 6 articles for The Bobbin Magazine.
