The majority of research articles suggest how different types of mentoring and professional networks have the best or worst effects on the promotion of women in their careers. They also suggest reasons for why women still lag behind men in status and promotions in the business world. However, one influence that is not discussed in great detail is the effect of a woman’s educational network on her success in the workplace. This presentation explores five published articles that report on the results from research conducted on the effects of mentoring and networking on the success and status of women in the business world. A method for research on the educational influences of high-status businesswomen is also proposed.
