Summary of Principal Actions Accomplished in 2011-2012

Goal 1: Increase Academic Excellence and Distinctiveness:  Promote Active and Engaged Learning

  • Established additional living-learning communities (LLCs) in the residence halls
  • Increased the academic profile of students admitted into the University 
  • Successfully completed the NEASC Self-Study Year
  • Initial steps taken to redirect credit hours faculty teaching load
  • Continued to expand the autonomy of colleges and created a new college of Education
  • Introduced new Graduate academic programs
  • Increased faculty publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Increased participation by students in the Study Abroad Office 

Goal 2: Develop a structured, mission–driven student development plan that intentionally educates the whole person within a campus-wide living and learning community and is a seamlessly integrated extension of classroom learning

  • Implemented programs and activities between Student Life and Academic Affairs that increased student connection with full-time faculty through departmental or Student Life clubs 
  • Continued the expansion of the Performing Arts Programs
  • Instituted a four-year Career Development plan for every Freshman Undergraduate student 
  • Increased the number of students participating in clubs and intramural sports    

Goal 3: New Facilities and Upgrade/Maintain Existing Infrastructure

  • Created and renovated numerous campus spaces
  • Began construction on a new Health and Wellness Center
  • Constructed a Presidential Residence     
  • Completed Architectural Drawings for the WCOB and submitted/approved by Town
  • Installed emergency power generator for the Network Operations Center (NOC)   

Goal 4: Strengthen the Long-term Financial Stability of the University

  • Created and began implementation of a comprehensive plan for University Advancement, to include all aspects of fundraising, alumni relations, and public relations  
  • Increased Undergraduate enrollment growth
  • Increased University College enrollment growth 

Goal 5: Deepen the Commitment to the Mission and Catholic Identity

  • Consciously inculcated the Catholic Intellectual Tradition throughout the Core Curriculum 
  • The University community exceeded its annual goal of 40,000 service hours to the local community by 10,000 service hours
