Welch College of Business Ranked One of the Best by Poets&Quants

Sacred Heart University’s Jack Welch College of Business was recently ranked one of the best undergraduate business schools by Poets&Quants for Undergrads, a news website dedicated to the coverage of undergraduate business education.

The College of Business’s AACSB-accredited curriculum emphasizes core business skills and knowledge, communications skills and ethics. It stresses hands-on learning, understanding of the global marketplace and state-of-the-art technology. It enrolls more than 2,000 students in undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Undergraduate programs are offered in accountingbusiness economicsfinancemanagementmarketing and sport management.

“We are honored to be recognized by Poets&Quants,” said John Chalykoff, dean of the College of Business. “Faculty works hard to ensure students have the best, most beneficial experiences possible. We encourage and enforce internships and prepare students for that with the necessary classes and coursework. The college has seen much growth over the years. We are pleased to meet the needs of the students and offer in-demand programs they are looking for.”

The Jack Welch College of Business comprises more than 50 faculty members who are recognized scholars and experienced practitioners in the business world. Faculty are encouraged to conduct research and writing and are re-evaluated every five years to ensure they remain current in business practices.

Business courses are offered in Fairfield as well as at the Luxembourg campus in Europe. Several classes are offered through state-of-the-art video broadcasting that allows European and American students to learn from and with one another simultaneously.

Some of the many companies that have offered internships and jobs to SHU students include GE, PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM, Unilever, Credit Suisse First Boston, NASDAQ, Madison Square Garden, Tetley USA, Pepperidge Farm, Octagon Sport Marketing and Ernst & Young.

Poets&Quants complied the 2017 ranking based on a representative survey of 6,288 recent graduates and school-reported data. The publication’s methodology is based equally on admissions standards, academic experience and employment outcomes.
