FAIRFIELD — The grunting tangle of arms and legs inched forward in search of leverage, almost like the line of scrimmage in football, except these women locked their arms around each other’s shoulders.
And pushed. Really hard.
Finally, after the egg-shaped rugby ball was dropped in the middle of this scrum, the kicking started until the ball squirted out the back and it was game on.
Think of rugby like tackle football, except for the helmet and pads part. The hits are unmuted, just like the gasps for air when the hard ground greets you.
