Sacred Heart University’s John F. Welch College of Business (WCOB) will present “Digital Marketing Evening” on Wednesday, May 1. The event, originally scheduled for February, was rescheduled after Storm Nemo necessitated a cancellation. The evening will consist of a conversation with an impressive panel of digital marketing practitioners who will talk about the practice of digital marketing in their respective industries. The event will take place at 6:30PM in the Schine Auditorium on Sacred Heart University’s campus in Fairfield.

“In this tight economy, digital marketing is one field with an impressive number of openings. The goal of the event is to highlight digital marketing educational opportunities in the Greater NYC/Fairfield County area where there is a shortage of talent,” said Anca Micu, professor and chair of Marketing and Sport Management at SHU. “We also want to highlight the diversity of players, career paths and skill sets within the field.”

Panelists will be:

  • Brian Cohen, executive vice president and  general manager, E-Tailing Solutions
  • Clay Cowan, vice president of global digital, Starwood Hotels & Resorts
  • Andrew Markowitz, global digital marketing director at GE
  • Joshua Nafman, senior digital brand manager at PepsiCo

All four men have extensive experience in digital marketing across a variety of industries.

Moderators for the event will be Micu and Russell Winer, William Joyce professor and chair of the Department of Marketing at New York University’s Stern School of Business.

The WCOB’s Marketing and Sport Management Department has begun placing an increased emphasis on the digital side, Micu said. In 2011, a concentration in digital advertising was added as an option within the undergraduate marketing major. Starting next fall, the Master of Science in Digital Marketing (MSDM) will welcome its first cohort. The MSDM program is a unique interdisciplinary program featuring courses in business marketing as well as web design and development. The program requires no previous web development experience and can be completed in 15 months.
