Judge Barry R. Schaller to Speak About His Book 'Veterans on Trial'

Judge Barry R. Schaller will speak in University Commons on Wednesday, November 14 at 2:00 p.m.

News Story: November 9, 2012

As part of the Human Journey Colloquia Series, Judge Barry R. Schaller will talk about his book Veterans on Trial which deals with the problem of PTSD from the ground up, starting with the issues that returning veterans and their families face. When they leave the battlefield to become civilians again, many soldiers are not prepared, or are unable, to cope successfully with the challenges. Their compounded anxieties often result in serious trouble; divorce, job loss, homelessness, substance abuse, suicide, and even murder.  Judge Schaller will explain how PTSD now operates as a means of defense in the criminal court system and how it will affect the courts in the next decade.

Judge Schaller teaches courses on law, literature, and jurisprudence to state court judges. He is an adjunct professor at Yale Law School and an associate fellow of Yale’s Branford College.

This event will take place in University Commons on Wednesday, November 14 at 2:00 p.m.
