Center for Irish Cultural Studies to Host UCONN's Dr. Mary Burke
SHU’s Center for Irish Cultural Studies will host a talk with UCONN Associate Professor of English and Irish Concentration Coordinator Dr. Mary Burke entitled Tinkering with the Irish Literary Canon: Synge, Yeats and Traveller Women Writers. This event will take place in University Commons on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
Mary Burke was awarded the 2009 College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Research Excellence Award in the Humanities. A specialist in Irish studies, she has been a professor at UCONN since 2004. Her book, Tinkers: Synge and the Cultural History of the Irish Traveller, was published by Oxford University Press in 2009.
