Adult Students at SHU to Receive Scholarship Awards

News Story: August 1, 2010

Adult students enrolled in Sacred Heart University’s University College will receive formal acceptance of scholarship awards at a ceremony on Tuesday, August 17th, in the University’s Faculty Lounge. The public ceremony will get underway at 6:30 P.M. and will include refreshments. University College offers educational programs specially tailored to the needs of working adults and those returning to school after an absence.

The evening will include the presentation of two Tomoko Yamashita Scholarships. Recipients are part-time adult students who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3. Five Lifelong Learning Scholarships will also be awarded to students chosen by University College advisors in consultation with Financial Aid officers.

Because of its flexible scheduling options and its wide variety of courses, University College is the choice of -adult students who can pursue a degree on their own terms. It has attracted men and women from a great diversity of backgrounds including a number of foreign-born students who benefit from the ESL program that provides classes on both the Fairfield and Stamford Campus.
