Pioneers March in New York City's Columbus Day Parade

On Monday, October 12th, the Sacred Heart University Pioneer Marching Band participated in the 65th annual Columbus Day Parade in New York City. The band performed a special arrangement of Verdi's La Penseria, a song that has come to represent Italian unity and pride, from his opera Nabucco. The performance was featured on WNBC's live broadcast of the event. The annual parade takes place between 44th and 79th Streets along New York's 5th Avenue. The band was joined by the SHU Dance Team, and members of the University's Army ROTC (Silliman Company branch of the Nathan Hale Battalion). To watch a slideshow from the parade, click here.
