SHU Gives Back this Thanksgiving

News Story: November 28, 2009
The Sacred Heart University Community got into the spirit of giving this year in preparation for the Office of Volunteer Programs’ annual Thanksgiving Food Drive which will help to feed over 200 needy families in the Bridgeport area.

Sacred Heart students, faculty and staff brought their food donations to the Chapel of the Holy Spirit where a Thanksgiving interfaith prayer service followed. Volunteers then transported the supplies from the Chapel to the food pantry at St. Charles Parish in Bridgeport. The food boxes filled three vans, enough to fill the empty shelves at the food pantry, and monetary donations for over 225 turkeys were collected.

In a time of great need that is felt by many more than usual this year, Sacred Heart University recognized that need and generously filled it with the overwhelming spirit that exemplifies the heart of the campus community.
