Global Investments Certificate Program Launched at Sacred Heart University

News Story:

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -  Sacred Heart University understands that investing today isn't just stocks and bonds traded on U.S. stock exchanges. It’s global. In response to that dynamic environment, the John F. Welch College of Business at SHU introduces a new graduate certificate in Global Investments. The program will provide rigorous training and expertise for those working in the financial services industry.

An information session about the new Global Investments certificate will take place at Sacred Heart University’s Stamford campus on Thursday, August 7th at 5:30 p.m., or at the Fairfield campus on Tuesday, August 12th at 5:30 p.m. For information and directions, please call Meredith Woerz in the Office of Graduate Admissions, 203-365-4716.

With a diverse offering of course work including Derivatives, Risk Management, and Mergers & Acquisitions, the new Global InvestmentsCertificate program is aimed at preparing the financial services professional in investment strategy, portfolio management, theoretical foundations of investing, with a comprehensive understanding of current methods and instruments used in the industry.

Associate Professor and Senior Business Executive in Residence, John Gerlach says, “We are witnessing a secular shift in the investment behavior of both individuals and institutions as a result of the myriad new investment products and the continuing search for higher returns than those afforded by traditional asset classes. As a result, investments have become more complex and in many cases more risky.”

“In response to these changes and challenges, the Welch College of Business has developed this new graduate certificate program in Global Investments to give investment professionals a working knowledge of the vast changes that have taken place in recent years.”

Designed and delivered by a team of academics and practitioners from the U.S. and European Union, the Global Investments program offers 6 courses from which four must be completed to earn the certificate.

The John F. Welch College of Business stresses global awareness and an international perspective across the curriculum.
