Paul Healy Joins SHU as Executive Director for Emergency Management
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Paul Healy has joined the Sacred Heart University community as executive director for emergency management.
“I’m excited at being here,” Healy said. “I’m impressed with Sacred Heart’s state-of-the-art emergency notification system and the senior management integration of the Information Technology and Public Safety Departments.”
Healy’s hiring follows the launch of a new emergency notification system on campus last fall. The system uses AlertFind, which enables public safety tosend text messages to all registered users simultaneously. Other components of the notification system include CATV interruption, fire alarm PA, and a SHU web site temporary redirect system.
According to Mike Trimble, vice president of information technology and security, Healy is responsible for developing and maintaining the university’s disaster and emergency preparedness plans. He will provide strategically focused management to ensure the continuity of operations during wide-scale emergencies.
“It’s a blending of all my skill sets,” Healy said. “The position is unique and will utilize my expertise in both law enforcement and business management in the private sector. My job is to ensure security, physically and remotely, throughout a college campus, which in itself is very fluid and boundless. I will be working closely with many of the departments on campus along with the Fairfield, Trumbull, and Bridgeport Police Departments.”
Healy formerly worked as Chief Inspector, the highest law enforcement rank in the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice, Office of the Chief State’s Attorney. He has also served in various state police operational units and on the Milford Police Department.
He is a graduate of the FBI National Police Academy and the Connecticut State Police and Municipal Police Academies. He attended Albertus Magnus College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Business Management. He also earned an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Middlesex Community College.
Healy is also an energetic volunteer in the local community and an active member of St. Ann Church in Milford, where he resides.
