SHU Promotes Philip McCabe to Vice President for Finance

Sacred Heart University has announced that Philip McCabe, a member of the administration since 2000, has been promoted to vice president for Finance. Mr. McCabe previously served as assistant vice president for Finance.

In this role, Mr. McCabe will oversee Sacred Heart's Student Accounts and Business Office, which is responsible for university financial reporting, planning and budgeting, along with the payroll, accounts payable, risk management, and purchasing. Mr. McCabe will also oversee debt management, investment management and internal auditing.

I greatly appreciate the University's acknowledgement of the importance of the finance function in a growing institution and the confidence they are showing in me,Mr. McCabe said.

Mr. McCabe said that Sacred Heart's continuing growth will be the focus of his new responsibilities. We're in the first phase of a campus master plan that will support the University's growth and enhance the educational experience for our students. I will be finding ways to develop and leverage our financial resources to support those plans. This promotion enables me to reach further into the institution to find ways to help it grow, he said.

Before his tenure at SHU, Mr. McCabe worked in the insurance and financial services industry for 23 years; he was a business unit controller for The Hartford Financial Group, and also worked for MassMutual Financial Group and Prudential Financial.

Mr. McCabe holds a BBA in accounting from Siena College and an MS in financial management from RPI Hartford Graduate Center. He is a resident of Orange, Conn.
