18th Annual Pioneer Scholarship Open at Great River Golf Club

Sacred Heart University's 18th Annual Pioneer Scholarship Open golf tournament will take place on Monday, June 4th, with a 12:15 p.m. shotgun start. At 6:30 p.m., dinner and an awards presentation will close the day. The tournament will take place at the Great River Golf Club inMilford, Conn.

The Pioneer Scholarship Open golf tournament raises valuable scholarship funds for deserving SHU students. 100% of the net proceeds from the tournament directly support the University's Scholarship Fund.

At this year's tournament, 120 players will join together for a day of great golf at one of the area's premier courses. The tournament will feature two hole-in-one challenges. The four closest-to-the-pinĀ winners of the day will qualify for the JetBlue Challenge, which will award $50,000 to a hole-in-one shot during a shootout at the end of the day. Also, Karl Chevrolet of New Canaan will award a hole-in-one shot on the 11th hole with a 2007 Corvette.

Official tournament sponsors include Petra Construction Corp., Lanese Construction Inc., E-Lite Technologies, and LENOVO. The Pioneer Scholarship Open dinner sponsor is Keating & Associates.

The Pioneer Scholarship Open helps students achieve their dream of a college degree. Nearly 90% of SHU students receive some form of financial assistance, without which, college may not be a reality. Last year, the tournament raised $75,000 to benefit the student scholarship program at Sacred Heart University.
