SHU's Center for Financial Education Announces New Shelton Site and Spring Course Offerings
This spring, Sacred Heart University’s Center for Financial Education will offer classes in Shelton, in addition to its Stamford campus. Classes in Shelton will be offered at One Corporate Drive, located off Route 8 at exit 12. The Stamford campus is located at 12 Omega Drive.
SHU’s Center for Financial Education offers greater Fairfield County opportunities for continuing education in the financial services area. Programs include Financial Planning Certificate, Registered Paraplanner designation and Series 7 prep classes.
The Financial Planning Certificate Program includes five courses that satisfy the education component of the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards. Students gain both a thorough understanding of the course content and real-life applications in preparation for the CFP certification examination.
At the Stamford campus, course offerings for the spring semester include: “Investment Planning” and “Financial Planning Process & Insurance.” Both classes begin on January 11, 2007, and will meet on Thursday evenings, from 6:00 – 9:30 pm.

Courses for the Registered Paraplanner Program will also be offered this spring through SHU’s Center for Financial Education. Classes will be offered in Shelton as well as at the Stamford campus. The Registered Paraplannerdesignation is a valued credential to clients and the financial planning industry at large. It enables students to gain basic, practical knowledge of the financial planning process and the five disciplines of financial planning.
The program consists of 12 weeks of coursework and a three-month internship. Individuals new to the financial services industry, sales assistants, and frontline personnel who may be employed in banks, insurance firms, law offices or brokerage firms would be ideal candidates.
Spring classes run from Wednesday, January 24 – April 11, 2007 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at both sites.
Series 7 prep classes will be offered this spring in Stamford on Tuesday evenings, January 23 – March 13 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
