Home of the Jack Welch College of Business and School of Communication & Media Arts, the $50 million, 120,000-square-foot center is a unique, world-class facility offering unparalleled resources for students, including media production studios, trading floor and interactive laboratories designed to advance the skills and knowledge students need for the global marketplace.
The new Frank and Marisa Martire Business & Communications Center honors Frank, a 1969 graduate of Sacred Heart, and his wife Marisa for their years of service and leadership, as well as a multimillion-dollar philanthropic commitment to the University.
Center facilities include:

Our new Frank and Marisa Martire Business & Communications Center is designed to provide students with top-notch facilities and the latest technologies, so they can master everything from business fundamentals to trading room skills and accounting basics to global savvy. One of the most exciting features of the new Center is our active trading floor, which includes:

- 13 Bloomberg terminals
- 3 80” LCD screens
- LCD wallboard ticker tape displaying market information, news headlines and real-time data from the NASDAQ and the NYSE
- Breakout rooms where students can work on team assignments
- LCD display monitors for group presentations

- Televisions providing up-to-the-minute financial news
- Executive conference room for meetings
At Sacred Heart University, we want our graduates to be prepared to enter the fields of journalism, film, television, sports media, public relations and other media careers. After moving through our program, SCMA students will develop the artistic, critical and technical skills necessary to succeed in today’s job market as ethically and socially aware professionals.
Our new Frank and Marisa Martire Business & Communications Center is designed to provide state-of-the-art facilities and the latest technologies to support SCMA students, faculty and the university as a whole serving all academic and athletic departments.
The television studios and media facilities are designed to give students valuable professional experiences. Facilities include two full-size studios, one flash studio with a robotic camera, two control rooms, one media lab, six individual edit rooms, two screening rooms, a full-featured student radio studio and one large Media Theater. In addition, cameras in both the Forum and the Media Theater are wired to the control rooms, enabling students to produce professional multi-camera, live-streamed programs.
The motion capture lab is used for animation and game development and is also used by the new theatre program to teach actors how to act for animation.
The School of Communication & Media Arts has some of the most active student groups on the SHU campus, and these organizations find new and improved offices and production suites in the Frank and Marisa Martire Business and Communications Center.
